Homework due Monday

You are to bring in 40 photos which demonstrate your technical mastery of exposure determination, focus, and sharpness. Again, these can be of anything that you wish. I encourage you to take some time and create some nice images, but I am primarily concerned with your technical ability for this assignment. All other assignments will place content and aesthetic as the primary concerns, but I want to make sure that you can take a sharp, properly exposed photo.
-Remember to shoot RAW files for all your assignments throughout the course.
-Please don't edit the files in any way.
-Remember the rule: If hand holding the camera, you need to use a shutter speed of 1/focal length or faster.

Please read the the first part of this handout that I wrote several years ago on exposure determination. The information is still valid.
Please also read this technical document on exposure from Adobe. It is very techy, but it does an excellent job of explaining why you should expose for the highlights. Also from Adobe, is this article on understanding raw capture.
Make sure you ordered the book. FYI - I just learned that you can get free 2 day shipping from Amazon by registering your .edu email address. This week, you will need to read Chapter 1, so if you get your book and are feeling ambitious...
That should be enough to keep you busy this weekend :-)
